8th Annual St Andrew’s Day Food & Drink Celebrations
Tasty activities in and around the beautiful town of St Andrews

Savour St Andrews is the successor to the St Andrews Food and Drink Festival, which began in 2012 when Fife businesswoman Viv Collie was contracted by the St Andrews Partnership with the aim of organising events around St Andrew’s Day, and helping to attract visitors out with the main tourism season.

It is now a stand-alone project co-ordinated by Viv and driven by a small and dedicated team.

The emphasis is on St Andrews area hotels, restaurants and food and drink businesses, and the events will continue to showcase high quality Scottish and local food and drink.  Last year’s events featured Scottish and local meat, seafood, cheese, bakery products, fruit, beers, spirits, and speciality coffees. We were honoured to have Quality Meat Scotland as the sponsor for the main course of Scotch Lamb PGI, and we received valuable support in kind from other participants.

Savour St Andrews is really fortunate in having a group of outstanding chefs and businesses who enjoy working together in a very special and rare collaboration, particularly around the St Andrew’s Day Dinner.

They are all passionate about encouraging future generations of hospitality students, and we involve both SRUC Elmwood Campus and Fife College both in the kitchen and front of house.

In 2016 we were really excited about the decision to introduce special bursaries for SRUC Elmwood and Fife College, funded from part of the events proceeds.

We hope to carry on working with local businesses to promote food and drink, and develop the hugely valuable relationship we have built with the education sector. The whole project depends on the goodwill and co-operation of many people.

During our 2019 St Andrew’s Day Dinner, held at the Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort and Spa, live filming from the kitchen was beamed into the ballroom by Fife College. Guests were able to see the chefs, SRUC Elmwood and Fife College students and hotel staff in action as the dinner progressed. The chef team featured Old Course Hotel executive chef Martin Hollis; Ian MacDonald, the executive chef at St Andrews Links Trust; Geoffrey Smeddle from the Michelin-starred Peat Inn; executive chef Frank Trepesch from five star Fairmont St Andrews; sous chef Nick Kock from Rufflets Country House Hotel (AA Scottish Hotel of the Year); Stewart MacAulay from the multi-award winning Adamson Restaurant (2015 Scottish Restaurant of the Year) and Wullie Balfour, SRUC Elmwood chef lecturer (supervising his team of hospitality students). The Fife College student team worked front of house, mentored by Old Course Hotel staff.
