Bursary leads to Three Chimneys experience for SRUC student

A highly coveted work placement at the famous Three Chimneys restaurant on Skye awaits Liga Sprukte, an HNC Professional Cookery student at the SRUC Elmwood Campus in Cupar.

Liga is able to take up the opportunity thanks to “Savour St Andrews” which offers annual bursaries to students from SRUC Elmwood and Fife College.

The money is raised during events including the annual St Andrew’s Day Dinner and the Chefs Taster Lunch, both held at the Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort and Spa, and the students can use the awards to widen their experience and help with career development .

Liga was presented with her bursary certificate at last year’s dinner, and at the multi-award winning Three Chimneys she will be able to work with acclaimed head chef Scott Davies and his team.

She will also meet Three Chimneys owner Shirley Spear, who has been a highly respected and leading figure on the Scottish food and drink scene for many years.

SRUC Elmwood Campus offers hospitality courses from an introductory level right through to HND Hospitality, and will be holding an open evening on Thursday 16 August, from 5 pm.

Savour St Andrews brings together a number of top chefs and businesses who are passionate about promoting the town’s food and drink, and encouraging students who will go on to play a major role in the industry.
