Pittenweem’s popular harbourside fish kiosk is back in operation thanks to public demand.
Run by the Pittenweem-based Fishermen’s Mutual Association (FMA), the kiosk will be open seven days a week during August, and is serving daily cooked specials.
The project began last summer, and proved popular with locals and visitors.
The kiosk is selling a wide variety of shellfish, smoked fish and wet fish, with fresh locally landed langoustines, crabs and lobsters all on offer.
FMA manager Tom Mackenzie said that he is delighted to see the kiosk open again.
“We are disappointed that Fife Council rejected our plan for a shop in the fish market, but the kiosk is in place and ready for another busy summer.”
Last year Tom worked with Viv Collie of Savour St Andrews to provide langoustines for the St Andrew’s Day Dinner’s fabulous seafood dish (pictured below) prepared by the executive chef of St Andrews Links Trust, Ian MacDonald.
Viv and Tom also worked together through the East of Scotland Seafood Project to help highlight the availability of such top quality local produce to local chefs.
“We have been making some inroads with local businesses, and now both St Andrews Links Trust and the Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort and Spa are regular customers,” said Tom.
The kiosk will be open from 10am-5pm
