Two amazing North East Fife restaurants have just featured in “The Times” new list of favourite UK seafood haunts.
The Seafood Ristorante, stunningly perched overlooking the West Sands at St Andrews, and The Newport, in its equally spectacular position above the River Tay, are two of only three Scottish choices in “Lobster, moules and sunsets:30 best places to eat by the sea”
The reputations of both restaurants are soaring under Stefano Pieraccini’s ownership at the Seafood Ristorante, and former BBC MasterChef:The Professionals winner Jamie Scott in Newport.

The Seafood Ristorante
St Andrews, Fife
This steel-and-glass box of a restaurant, cantilevered over West Sands, has unparalleled views of the sandy beach. There’s plenty to see inside the stylish dining room too, with an open kitchen where the chefs give local seafood an Italian accent in creative dishes such as raviolo of Scottish lobster with caviar and shellfish bisque.

Jamie Scott, a winner of MasterChef: The Professionals, has chosen the picturesque Scottish village of Newport-on-Tay for his first restaurant. It’s set on the water’s edge, and the dining room’s glass wall can be folded back in good weather to provide fabulous views of the Tay bridge and the surrounding Fife area. The seasonal six-course tasting menu shows off the region’s abundant natural larder — lobster landed at nearby St Andrews is served with sea leek, wild garlic and sauce américaine.
